This summer, a group of us (adults and teens) are interested in renting a home for a week in Michigan on (or near) the lake. If you have any suggestions of where to stay, say a “few” hours drive from Chicago, I’d appreciate the tip.
I’ve never been to MI so I have no idea which towns provide the most local interest and natural beauty. We plan to just laze about, hike around, and generally see what there is to see.
Personally, I’m looking forward to watching the sun set over Lake Michigan.

I would highly recommend staying somewhere up in the Upper Peninsula. The terrain is beautiful, very hilly and wooded. The beaches aren’t crowded, the water is crystal clear. The only downside is that because of the relative lack of people, theren’t aren’t a lot of options as far as entertainment. But if you’re looking for a place to just relax and hang out, with peace and quiet, it’s wonderful.
Oh so many places. I agree with Robin.
Going on memory here, I remember Brimley, Charlevoix and Bar Harbor as being beautiful places to visit and vacation. And don’t forget Mackinac Island!
Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll be sure to check them out.
