A Lesson Before Dying

Ernest J. Gaines (1993)

The latest from the author of The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman, this story brings together two black men in the South of a few decades ago. One is waiting on death-row to be executed for a murder he was unwittingly a part of. The other is sent by his mother to install in the convicted man a sense of dignity before he is executed.
