The Trial of Abigail Goodman

Howard Fast  (1993)

Written in a the quick-read, brief style of a courtroom drama, this book has a very timely and intriguing premise: in the “not-so-distant future” abortion has been made illegal. A middle-aged university professor, a wife and mother, finds herself having to make the difficult decision. Legal technicalities cause her to be brought up on charges of first degree murder, and a media circus ensues as the first woman is tried under the new abortion law. Note that the author of this book is a man.
