Ursala Hegi (1995)
The first book club selection of the year was a hit with me. An entertaining and funny account of a writer struggling to stay on course as her life and the lives of her characters intrude upon the creative process. The story fluctuates between the personal dramas of fact (her marriage and young sons demanding attention) and fiction (running dialogues with the characters in the novel she is writing, arguing about plot line, backstory and motivation like so many prima donnas.) An amusing light read.
