Review: Madeleine’s Ghost

Robert Girardi (1995)

Try as he might, a transplanted New Orleanian living in Brooklyn can no longer ignore the ghost who haunts his rundown apartment. Ned spends his days in the basement of a church researching the life of a would-be saint and his nights drinking and drugging with an odd collection of bohemians and good ol’ boys, all the while trying to avoid the restless spirit who has chosen him to help her find eternal peace.  His saintly research, the tortured spirit’s past and Ned’s broken love affair with the beautiful Antoinette all converge, pulling him back to the Big Easy after many years to take care of multiple layers of unfinished business.
