Attention book clubbers! Here’s a book that would make for fantastic discussion. Main character Alan Sherwood’s mother remarries and moves away, and his love affair with a selfish woman ends abruptly. He ignores his better judgment and marries an unstable woman, and in no time he’s settled into a domestic life as isolated as before. Altered States, my favorite by this author thus far, is a “veddy-veddy” British character study full of complex relationships and motivations that will keep a group talking for hours.
