Notes From a Small Island

Bill Bryson (1995)

A thoroughly enjoyable and often laugh-out-loud-funny book. After living in Britain for twenty-odd years, a transplanted American journalist decides to move his family back to the States. As a fond farewell to his adopted home, he takes a solitary journey from one end of the island to the other, using only public transportation and his own two feet to travel across the English countryside. This is a unique travelogue written with a sense of humor fans of Dave Barry will appreciate, filled with local color, hilarious asides, nostalgia, irreverence and a great deal of affection.
