Review: The Hours

Michael Cunningham (1998)

A thought-provoking, cleverly written novel with three intertwining stories: author Virginia Woolf, struggling with her sanity, her marriage and her craft in the years preceding her most famous novel Mrs. Dalloway; an unhappy 1950s housewife whose perfect existence is beginning to crack; and a contemporary woman in NYC on the eve of hosting a party for a former lover, an eccentric, dying poet. This selection made for a great book club discussion.
