Just How Much Can You Eat in Your Last 12 Hours?

Lunch at Uglesich's
A last food tour before leaving for the airport and home. Cafe du Monde, then…a farewell stroll by the river.

After checking out of the hotel, we drove to Octavia bookstore on Octavia Street in the lower Garden District. A great little local independent bookstore tucked away in a residential area. Friendly proprietor, open, sunny store, great selection and a cute little outdoor patio with a tall water-wall/fall and a small pond with coy in it.

Then, off to Uglesich’s, where we were recognized by the staff (we’re regulars!) Had another outstanding meal. A last run to Camellia Grill for Jenny’s slice of pecan pie to go left us with enough time for a relaxing hour and a half at CC’s, reading and drinking coffee under the live oaks.

More photos from the trip can be seen here.

The Food:

Lunch at Uglesich’s:
(A repeat of Thursday) Half dozen oysters, fried green tomatoes, stuffed artichoke bottoms, (pictured, clockwise from upper left) soft-shell crab plate with slaw, barbecued shrimp with potatoes, shrimp and grits.
