The Up Series Is Coming to DVD!!

I’m very excited that Michael Apted’s entire Up Series is coming to DVD. This is the longest running documentary series, covering the lives of 14 people through interviews conducted every seven years. It began in 1964 with the movie Seven Up, and has continued with 7 Plus Seven, 21 Up, 28 Up, and 42 Up. It’s a unique glimpse into real life, following a diverse group of kids as their lives change (or don’t) from one period to the next. It’s interesting how much of what comes later in their lives can be seen (for good and bad) in the first episode, when they’re just seven years old.

I’ve seen two films in this series and have been eagerly waiting for the remainder of them to be released on DVD. Now that they are (on Oct 19th–already added to my Netflix queue) I can watch them one right after another. I highly recommend them!
