Uglesich’s — Thanks for the Memories

Lunch at Uglesich'sThe New York Times has a great write up on the closing of a New Orleans’ institution, one of the best places to get fresh sea food anywhere, and my second favorite place to eat on the planet–Uglesich’s. (For an out-of-towner, I’ve eaten there so often that as I read the description of the place and people I could picture it perfectly in my mind and almost taste the amazing food.)

Last year when I ate there, we heard rumors that the husband and wife owners would be retiring and closing their doors for good. Turns out the rumors are true. I can’t believe that the next time I go down there for my culinary food fest, Uggie’s won’t be on the menu. I’m just glad we were there recently for one last hurrah. We have the cookbook to tide us over. Of course, it’s not the same, but it’s better than nothing. And just reading through it brings back soooooo many delicious memories.
