Barrier Islands Washing Away

This series of before and after photos shows how part of the problem, the diminishing of wetlands and protective barrier island on the Gulf Coast, just got a whole lot worse.

And here’s Dauphin Island, one of the places where I birdwatched last time I was down there.

  1. I saw a documentary on Louisiana a few mouths ago. Environmentalists were emphasising the sad state of Louisiana’s coast, saying how it has already lost its characteristic “boot shape” as seen from space. It’s a shame.
