Serving up one of the best Chicago-style hot dogs in the city, Hot Doug’s is so popular that on weekends a line often runs out the door and down the block. Billing itself as “The sausage superstore and encased meat emporium,” Hot Doug’s is lunch only and not exactly on the beaten path, but so worth the pilgrimage.
Reflecting Doug’s culinary school background, the menu features all types of “encased meats” (polish sausage, italian sausage, bratwurst, andouille) and specials you won’t find in your typical hot dog joint (yesterday’s was lamb sausage,) but the Chicago-style dog with “all the trimmings” is the main attraction. And on Friday and Saturdays, they feature duck fat fries that are amazing!
This is Doug, sporting his mantra.
I just discovered Hot Doug’s last month, and have been there twice already. It’s a great place to take locals and out-of-towners.
I’d say! I so want that hot dog and fries right now…
