Review: High Sierra (1941)

Bogart is practically upstaged by a dog, but still worth seeing.

I guess I expected more from this movie because having finally seen it, it kind of left me flat. I think I was imagining it would be more like Key Largo, with its snappy dialog and high-energy. Outside of Humphrey Bogart’s performance, as an aging gangster attempting to pull off one last great heist, and a thrilling chase scene shot on location in the Sierra Mountains, there isn’t much to recommend this fairly run-of-the-mill gangster film.
