I go to movies often enough that there are certain trailers that dog me. They’re so bad, I actually consider getting up and leaving the theater or sticking my fingers in my ears and singing “Lalalalala” with my eyes squeezed shut, just to avoid seeing them one more time. The trailer for Albert Brooks’ new movie is my latest nemesis.
Have you seen the trailer for Looking for Comedy in the Muslim World? It looks painfully and astoundingly un-funny. I’ve seen the trailer at least five times now, and each time you could hear a pin drop in the theater. Not one single peep of a laugh, snort or giggle from anyone. If they’ve shown us the best bits, as trailers tend to do, things don’t bode well for Brooks’ latest film.
Too bad. While I’m not a huge fan of Lost in America, I think Real Life, Mother and Defending Your Life are terrific, laugh-out-loud films.
I don’t go to the movies that often but even I’ve seen the trailer too many times.
I loved Defending your Life too.
That Muslim venture…look, if they have humour, fine; if not, that’s fine too. But I don’t want to go broke or waste my time finding out. LOL
