Cutting Edge (Literally) Animation

My favorite part of the Lemony Snicket movie was the credit sequence, a truly outstanding piece of animation. (Seriously, rent the DVD, skip the movie and got directly to the credit sequence chapter. Totally worth it.)

It’s beyond me why anyone would watch the Super Bowl for the commercials (won’t we be bombarded with them in the coming weeks anyway?) so I just now heard about the United Dragon commercial that aired during the game. United has been using clever, eye-catching animation for a while now in their spots, but this one is by far the best. Check it out if you haven’t seen it. It’s really great.

There’s also an interesting making-of spot that shows the painstaking detail that went into creating the 30-second spot. If only all our jobs could be half that clever and creative.

(Thanks for the heads up on this one Charlie!)
