Wednesday was my first time in the new Harris Theater, located at the north end of Millennium Park. I was delighted to see the lobby was decorated a la Dan Flavin.
Each level had a different color tone with flourescent bulbs on the walls and ceilings. It’s kind of industrial looking, but very cool. I liked the effect. It definitely sets the place apart from other performance spaces in the city.
One thing that took a moment to adjust to was that if you enter the building from street level, you have to go down, not up since the majority of the building is built underground.
And, for some reason I couldn’t figure out, there’s no fourth floor. Hmmm…
