Everything Happens For a Reason

If I heard the phrase “Everything happens for a reason” once, I heard it fifty times during the course of telling Karen’s friends and family what had happened to her while she was in the hospital.

We now think we understand what that reason was–Television!

My DVR had been busting at the seams with programs I’d recorded for us to watch. Finally, thanks to her hip replacement, she has hours and hours of uninterrupted time to sit in front of the TV and absorb them all. Six hours of Bleak House, six hours of the Frontline documentary Country Boys, and various other movies that have been recorded off cable, not to mention a few films from Netflix.

I told her next time she wants to “borrow” my cable, she doesn’t have to go to such drastic lengths.
