This predictably cynical take on Washington lobbyists perfectly casts Aaron Eckhart as Nick Naylor, a high profile spinmeister for big tobacco. His major opponent is a cheese-loving senator from Vermont (William H. Macy) who’s chasing good PR by leading a campaign to put hilariously grisly skull & crossbones icons on cigarette packs. The two go head-to-head in an often amusing, if not 100% of the time laugh out loud black comedy.
The film is shot with style by writer/director Jason Reitman, but it didn’t finish as strong as it started. A descent enough DVD rental. [*** out of 5]
The fact that Aaron Eckhart is in it will make me see it. No matter how much it sucks, I will suffer through, just to be able to see him. LOL
