Technically it’s a re-vamped, re-opened and (stupidly) re-named museum. The Chicago History Museum (formerly the Chicago Historical Society, a name which officials felt the public was too intimidated by) reopens this Saturday after a $27 million dollar renovation.
The website doesn’t give anything away so I won’t link to it but what I’ve heard about the museum sounds terrific, with new exhibits on the World’s Columbian Exposition, the Chicago Fire, and the very first El car. As a history buff, I’m really looking forward to visiting this fall.
It sounds like a cool place to go! I heart Chicago.
