Review: Borat (2006)

Borat, full name Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, is hilarious, outrageous, offensive, disturbing and a thoroughly original movie experience.

Sacha Baron Cohen so completely embodies his character that I, like the dupes in the movie, absolutely believed this was a real guy. At least three times during the film, I wondered how he hadn’t been arrested.

Would I recommend Borat to everyone? Absolutely not. Do I think you should see it? Absolutely. Save us from more Jackass movies and comedies starring the likes of Rob Schneider and Jessica Simpson by supporting clever, thought-provoking satire, so rare on the big screen. At the very least, seeing this film will make for great dinner conversation afterward. [**** out of 5]
