Hey all, the Art Institute is free for most of the month of February! When the weather is cold and snowy (as it is now) there’s no better way to spend an afternoon than strolling the great halls soaking in art. Get yourself downtown before 2/21 and you can breeze in the AIC for free.
Two paintings I enjoy making a regular visit to see, especially in the dead of winter, are the above, View of Cotopaxi (1857) by Frederic Edwin Church and this one:
Distant View of Niagara Falls (1930) by Thomas Cole. My version of art therapy.
I’d love to go to the Art Institute, but it’s a bit of a trek from Bucks County, Pennsylvania. We did, however, go the the James Michener Museum in Doylestown, PA over the weekend and enjoyed it immensely.
Happy Valentine’s day!
