My cold continues, entering week two. As an ongoing natural cold remedy I’ve been taking regular hits of my homemade delicious garlic-ginger-chili butter. (Garlic, ginger and hot chilis all being good for boosting your immunity and natural cold-fighting abilities.)
Here’s the recipe. Combine:
1 stick of butter, melted
6 gloves of garlic, minced
3 inches of ginger, grated
Sriracha chili sauce, as much as you can stand
A pinch of salt
Mix it all together and slather it on anything you like.
Lately I’ve been putting it it on French bread, under the broiler for three minutes. Put it on a baked potato, steamed veggies, crackers. The possibilities are endless and it keeps for a while.
The doubly great thing about this butter is not only is it delicious, but when you’re sick, you can really taste it. (I tend to use the recipe amounts as a starting point, not the rule.) So, when I’ve got a cold, when I’m not consuming pots of Thai hot and sour soup (also full of natural goodness–lemongrass, ginger, chili), I’m chowing on this butter.
I am intrigued. Will try it out on the gf at the weekend. 🙂
