Click and Clack: As the Wrench Turns is a Clunker

Anyone else catch the premier two episodes of this new PBS comedy? There’s a reason the character above is holding his nose–it stank.

Tom and Ray Magliozzi, co-hosts of NPR’s popular Car Talk, lend their voices and their radio alter-egos Click and Clack the Tappet Brothers to this animated sitcom. As much as I enjoy their radio show, an amusing blend of information and entertainment, I couldn’t muster as much as a chuckle watching the lame antics of their two-dimensional selves.

Jokes fell flat, the characters surrounding the Tappet brothers in their garage/radio studio were uninteresting (in their quirks and their voice characterizations) and the stories were just so-so. The biggest problem was the overwhelmingly unfunny dialog.

  1. I thought it was pretty good for a launch episode. Let’s give
our favorite guys a few weeks and see what the other episodes
are like, I love those guys and I bet it will get better.
