(Psst, Mike, this one’s for you.)
Or really, for anyone visiting Chicago looking for an interesting and unique way to experience the city. Locals, if you haven’t seen Chicago from the river, I can’t recommend this highly enough.
There are a variety of outfits that offer river tours of Chicago but I think the best is that given by The Chicago Architecture Foundation. You get a gorgeous view of downtown and the loop from a vantage point like none other, along with a dose of history and architecture that’s fascinating and fun. There’s nothing like passing under the Michigan Avenue Bridge, with a view straight up of the Wrigley Building clock tower (and now the Trump Tower.)
Architecture River Cruises are very popular and sell out, so it’s a good idea to get tickets in advance.
Another impressive view of Chicago, circa the Michigan Avenue Bridge, is from the Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum.
