We interrupt this reading of Patrick Suskind’s Perfume: The Story of a Murderer to immediately begin reading Lemony Snicket’s long-awaited thirteenth and final installment in the Series of Unfortunate Events, appropriately titled The End and even more appropriately released today, Friday the 13th.
This is in no way a reflection on Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, as riveting a novel as when I first read it twenty years ago. It is most certainly a reflection on how much I enjoy reading the adventures of the Baudelaire orphans and how eager I am to see how The End ends for these three unfortunate siblings. Badly, I’m sure, for Snicket wouldn’t have it any other way.
Oooh – I nipped out from work at lunchtime to buy this yesterday. I started reading it on the way back to work – but have only just got on to chapter 2.
Let me know when you’ve finished reading it, then we can compare notes!
I’m just starting into the Lemony Snicket series. (Yes, I know, I’m a laggard.) They look like so much fun.
As I don’t read very fast, I’ll be to where you are in about a year or so! Maybe I”ll adopt a book-of-the-month approach a la Harry & David. After all, we’re talking about fruit here! 😉
