Review: Watermarks (2004)

An interesting personal take on life under Nazi-occupation, as told by survivors of the Jewish sports club, Hakoah Vienna. Over six decades after the club was formed in the 1930s, members of the women’s swim team are reunited by filmmaker Yaron Zilberman to share their experiences as champion swimmers, relate how Hakoah saved them and their families from the Holocaust, and once more swim together. An affectionate portrait of this interesting footnote to history. [**** out of 5]
