The Field Museum of Natural History has recently added a bunch of photos from their archive onto Flickr. In addition to a set of photos from the 1893 Columbian Exposition, there’s a set of Illinois landscapes, many of which were snapped in the early 1900s as diorama backgrounds, a set from Lincoln Park Zoo around the same time (with the saddest animals in the smallest, loneliest cages) and some very cool collections of the museum in its early years, from 1894 (in its first home in Jackson Park–the current Museum of Science and Industry) through the 1920s when it moved into its current location at the end of Grant Park.
Thanks for the links. This is amazing stuff.
